1. Describe the type of person that calls the hotline.
Volunteer 1: People who are depressed, worried, grieving and lonely.
2. What characteristics do you want in a volunteer?
Volunteer 1: Willing to listen, giving of their time, wants to help others
3. What does the training process consist of?
Volunteer 1: Role play,facts, getting information to give out (ie. where they can find financial assistance)
4. Why use volunteers instead of hiring employes with counseling backgrounds? Volunteer 1: Keeps the cost down. You really want to do this, cause there is no financial gain. Seems to draw people who really care about others.
5. What do you feel the organization has accomplished?
Volunteer 1: In the last several years, the rate of suicide has decreased. Even one death is worth everything. With the economy down the calls are up every call helps those in need.
